Wow it has been a long time.

So I started this blog and then I didn't do with it for more than a month! Well it has been more that just laziness that has prevented me from taking care of my Blogging duties. As some of you may already know I am a student officer for the pharmacy school. I am the Vice President of Student Affairs for Utah Student Pharmacist Alliance... I know, quite the title. To make it a little more simple, I am the person that has to get everyone else involved in extracurricular activities.

At the Pharmacy School we have events where we go out into the community and teach people about Heartburn Prevention/Management, screen people for Diabetes, give people immunizations, teach about diet and nutrition, or even go to High Schools and Junior High Schools and teach the kids about "Pharming" and why it is bad. It is my job to organize these events, find students willing to participate and then find pharmacists willing to babysit the student pharmacists. It kind of goes with out saying that it is a lot of work and has taken a ton of my time. But for some reason I love my student position.

This position has given me an opportunity to leave the pharmacy school and the community better off and it has been really rewarding, not to mention I have had quite a bit of face time with the Dean and the Associate Deans which will come in handy when it comes time to apply for Residencies if I choose to do so.

I guess it should take so much of my time but I am trying to do the best I possibly can to make my school the best there is. We have been doing Operation Diabetes, Operation Immunization and Heartburn Awareness for years but I actually came up with the idea for the "anti-pharming" program and I am trying to get it going myself. I have already told a lot of people this but last year in Utah more people died from taking prescription medications than from taking illegal drugs. So this is a problem that I wanted to address.

Well I won't ramble any longer, but I promise to do better from now on.
